Thanks Andrew. You got spells, Clarmonde? Bee careful what you wish for, is all I can say!

Hmmm, off topic now... am enjoying the revamped news thread. Although I'm not entirely sure if I would put quote marks around the pope's "crimes against humanity" – as a crime against humanity is just that and requires no further grammatical tarting. But 'New Takeaway from Last Supper' is just genius!

Male bees play the field, led astray by female impersonators... who needs a trip to Bangkok anyway?

Bee part of it:

The National Trust in the UK has launched a campaign with BBC local radio to introduce new bee colonies, and to raise awareness about the plight of this creature.

Quote:
The National Trust and BBC Local Radio are encouraging people to ‘Bee Part of It!’ this summer through a campaign to help the honey bee.
In the UK alone, the number of honey bee colonies halved between 1985-2005 due to changes in land use, the varroa mite (which sucks the bee’s blood and spreads disease), and cold wet summers.
To help tackle the problem we're introducing 45 new honey bee colonies at locations all around the country. Every hive is being adopted by a BBC Local Radio station, as well as by the BBC in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. They’ll tell the story of their hive across the summer, and BBC Local Radio websites will have everything from key bee facts, to advice on bee-friendly planting at home.
As part of the project, every BBC Local Radio station will be giving away 1,000 packets of bee-friendly wild flower seeds (subject to availability) for listeners to sow in their gardens.

See more here:

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w- ... -of-it.htm

And the various different regions of the BBC all have something on this. Hampshire and bee keeping at Mottisfont Abbey, for example.

Some recent good news about bees - the story below describes how the number of hives in the UK has grown from 40,000 in 2007 to 80,000 today, and how in the past two years the honey bee population here is estimated to have increased from 23 billion to 48 billion, thanks in large part to the increase in bee keeping in smaller city centre gardens and allotments, whereas in the past this sort of activity was mainly confined to farms and rural areas. Apart from a growing desire by people to produce their own food, this must also stem from increased awareness about the plight of the bee, and the need to replenish their numbers, and these latest statistics are highly encouraging.

Just found a couple of articles regarding the origins of ancient bees:

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/jun/08 ... s-20100608

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/06/ancient-bees/

Also this appeared in the Guardian regarding the honeybee collapse:

Bee well,

"If bees and other pollinators were to disappear completely, the cost to the UK economy could be up to £440m per year, scientists have warned.

This amounts to about 13% of the country's income from farming."

my contribution:

Theres a point in history where ancient zoomorphic gods ( from the very first civilization-babylon) lost the battle against zoomorpich-antropomorphic gods (newer egiptian gods) and then they subsequently lost the battle againts pure antropomorphic gods (newer greek gods), just remember the myth of the mynotaurus.

But christianity took again the egiptian mythology!!!! so we have men with wings, or sacred lambs, OR a pope who dresses like the Egyptian God Ra

Since the bee represents Ra, then maybe some real bees are being oculted on a cave on Egypt

-T H e C Y B e r m A C h t

p.s. OR at the base of the 99% unexplored babylon

British Man Claims To Have Bred Indestructible Bees

Quote:
A British man claims to have bred a strain of bee capable of protecting itself from a deadly parasite that is wiping out the environmentally vital insect.

Organic farmers have been saying this for decades...Honey is made by small independent producers and the powers that be want BEET not BEES...it's all about the worldwide domination of the sugar industry (sugar beet) over the home produced more healthy alternative, honey. Everyone used to have bees and that was all the sweetness they needed and when the industrial revolution kicked in suddenly the corporations that-be needed an industrial sweetener, because the city workers didn't have gardens.
It's all about wiping out the small producers, just like they did with the refined white flour during the wars that put an end to the independent millers...it is all about taking away the independence of the people and handing it over to big business who are hand in hand with the governments.

All you people out there who insist on using white refined sugar and white refined flour are destroying your own health and your environment...and, your own local economy.

2012 will be the year when we, the people take back OUR planet along with the right to feed ourselves.

I just bought a small stevia plant. It's so sweet though but it's supposed to have medicinal properties as well.

Was the genetically altered corn invented to be used for fuel?

The included insecticide genes kill off more than pests.
