Moderation is for monks. I'll have a vodka stinger.

With beer? :!:  Surely you mean vodka?

I can't stomach English ale, unfortunately, but like European lagers; also much prefer the French way of drinking beer, served not in great tankards, like in the UK, but in a c. third-pint measure, in a stemmed glass, and very cold. I like Stella (Belgium), Amstel (Holland) and Kronenbourg (France), but I think most French or German beers are good, particularly those from the Alsace region.

From further afield, I'd go for Sol (Mexico), or Kingfisher (India - very popular in the UK now, probably brewed here too, because of our love of "Indian", really Bangladeshi, food), or maybe San Miguel (Spain). From the Antipodes, I like Fosters and VB from Oz, and Steinlager from New Zealand.

It's actually much better than it sounds and is considered a hangover drink just like Bloody Marys are. Now if you want to try something truly foul, I once unwittingly had something in Tokyo that I believe they called a Broadway, that was Coke and beer - blech. I would enjoy really all of your choices, but again want to praise the Japanese beers such as Kirin, Sapporo, Asahi, Echigo as world class lagers.

Which stem to use? What would Emily Post recommend I wonder?

I don't know that this has ever been done.....Franklin County moonshine in Waterford?

If it causes the world to end....I had nothing to do with it.

And Sheila, if you prefer you can drink from the canning jar, it's totally appropriate :D

I needed to wash the glasses anyway, so why not enjoy them? They sing to you!

Sheila, I would surely love to raise a toast with you one day! If I thought I could sneek it through customs I would bring you a jar of Franklin County's finest.

The grape is awesome! And I did add a little fizz.

I opted for the shorter 'glass' because I tend to knock over taller pieces....and that would break my heart.

Some redneck, hill-billy is rolling on the floor laughing at this.....(if they now how to read).

It is nearly lunch-time for you. Have one. I didn't know what it was, so I had to look it up. It sounds yummy for sure.

Richard,

If you like tomato juice you should try a 'red-eye.' But don't use a good beer/lager. I use Miller....8oz. ponies if I can find them. A dash of salt and you're good to go.

I really don't like beer either.

But I'm surely feeling this 'shine already. You know this stuff burns a really pretty color...I bet you could even use it for petrol. However, it's still much more expensive.

Oh, and what do you guys call a napkin over there? Nappies are what you put on a baby's butt, right? So what do you call the thing you use at table?

Nice choices Tina, I enjoy a SoCo and lime juice, but I do it the opposite as you. Newcastle first then the SoCo as chaser.

Your obviously not to familiar with Belgian Trappist beers, some pack a punch for a beer brewed by or following the rules of monks. I used to enjoy Vodka`s as well, but as Joe Walsh once sang " ...it`s hard to leave when you can`t find the door".

Belgium, monks and brewing would segue neatly to the Abbey of Orval.
