Crop Circle from a field crossed by power lines 2008 Hillside Farm, West Wood.

The 2011 yellow formation is from Crepstow in Wales - on Earth Day.

April 29, 2011 Silbury, Wiltshire.

Circles are in this year.



May 2011 Hannington near Criklade - Wiltshire.

In addition to the two Wiltshire formations that Renne refers to above, at Silbury Hill and Chicklade, there have been two others in the UK, making four in total in 2011 (with a so far unsubstantiated rumour of a fifth on the east coast).

One fairly unimpressive one at Alton Barnes, also in Wiltshire, that looks like a work-in-progress, and in the early stages at that.

And another on the other side of the England-Wales border in Gwent, which is more of a proper looking formation.

All four have been made in Oil Seed Rape fields, which is the only crop up so far at this time of year in the UK. I think, as we discussed last year, this would be a less suitable medium than other crops to make a shape in, but I guess one works with what one has. Incidentally, the planting of rape is something that seems to have increased massively in the past decade, so the incidence of this will likely increase. I live in the next county to Wiltshire, and I should think that one in three arable fields near me is coloured flourescent yellow at the moment.

I got to see five formations in total in 2010, all in Wiltshire - four in the vicinity of Alton Barnes, which is like Crop Circle Central, and one over in the west, on the border with Dorset. Assuming I get to see any this year, I'll report back my impressions, as in 2010.

Agreed. Like most consumer goods, once they start being mass produced, the quality of workmanship and materials goes way down.

In the pictures of Bucklebury, there were yellow mustard fields in the background.

I think that the image of interlinking circles is significant.

as it is used by the Priory of Sion - from "The Red Serpent" (who is probably

...Ophiuchus!).

New crop circle near Kingstone Coombes, Ashbuiry, Oxfordshire.

Lots of circles, although I hear that the season really hasn`t begun yet.

They need to get some professionals in there - this is just really shoddy work.
