James headed the church in Jerusalem, but it wasn't called the Nazorite Church nor were their beliefs based in Nazorite doctrine (which was a form of ascetic Judaism from which Jesus may have emerged). In as much as we can today attempt to understand what the early church believed, there are passages in the NT which said that the Apostles preached the Resurrection and I'm not familiar with anything that says James did not do so. Also I can't really see James and Paul arguing over the necessity of Gentiles to follow Mosaic Law if they weren't on the same page about the Resurrection.

Have you read the paper in Lovuian link?

http://douglaslockhart.com/pdf/THE%20NA ... 20SECT.pdf

This paper directly draws the connection between the Nazorites and James.

There are several references and allusions in Paul's epistle's to the dispute between Paul and James regarding circumcision - I can't see why they would necessarily be a connection between the Mosaic Law and Resurrection. They were clearly at odds.

See:

Titus 1:10; Colossians 2:16-23; Galatians 6:11-18.

The paper linked by Lovuian (apparently my sock puppet master according to the redoubtable Thomass), I thought was very interesting.

Apologies for that Hotie, what was I thinking ?
I can only put it down to a low attention span and you posting her favourite pic.
You know what proved me wrong? The small phrase 'Wouldn't miss it for quids'! A classic piece of 'strine, wrong part of the world

Careful with the polysyllabic words Doc, you've lost Blackbeard already.
Judging by the cultural reflex all we need is Rain and Wombat to chip in and we'll be sorted.

Dearest Tommy the Didapper,

Just a little note on "strine".

Strictly speaking, no f..ing worries etc is not strine but Ozzie slang.

Strine is a strangulated and contorted form of the english language spoken by Australians - with very curious spellings.

An often cited example is egg nisher.

See if you can figure that one out. (Googling not allowed.)

Its a fascinating new cultural area that deserves it's own thread!
I'm all ears!
No doubt all the amateur lexicologists on the forum are clearing their diaries as we speak.
I resisted the wiki urge but my mate george from Queensland tells me its the A/C.
So strine contains no slang or vica versa?
I'm guessing the 'Didapper' reference was perjorative.? Apologies if my attendance upon the Forum isn't regular enough for you. Feel free to let me know what you consider a more appropriate level of interaction.
After a while you will be through the first flush of excitement at posting constantly and you'll find that most of the stuff isn't worth stopping your life for.
BTW Why do you call redheads 'Bluey'?

I'd be more concerned why you feel the need to 'fish' on a forum which is designed to discuss certain issues.
Well at least you've been kind enough to show us your intentions on the forum. What will your next 'fish' be and who will be the victim?

What do you know of why the Forum was designed?
When you feel the need to actually discuss 'issues' Blackbeard rather than your illogical 'feelings'
peppered with your infantile scatological obsession then let us know.
I can appreciate that you desperately crave affirmation and respect for validation
but maybe you might want to consider what that means ?

BTW Apologies for the split infinitives!

When you've finished looking up more pointless words in the dictionary and start behaving like an adult perhaps we can get around to it.
I don't need any validation or acceptance from anyone and I regard myself on equal terms with everyone on this forum, clearly you feel you are a couple of runs up the ladder from the rest of us and feel the need for such clap trap.
Your childish behaviour by the way where I come from can be explained in much simpler terms:- your just a trolling dick.

BTW its YOU'RE not YOUR which, if memory serves, is a possessive pronoun whilst the former is a contraction of
'YOU ARE'
Loving it Dave! Got some dreadful news for you however,
Don't need to look them up before using them.
Good to see you slip into the pavlovian abuse response!

Dearest Thomass the Drongo,

So strine contains no slang or vica versa?

Slang can be strined - but slanged strine is more or less a non-sequitur.

Strine is all about how Australians pronounce words rather than about substituting words (generally of a courser nature) for others.

I'm guessing the 'Didapper' reference was perjorative.?

Being the gentleman I am, I cannot directly admit to "putting shit on you" - it's more a statement of fact than anything else - of course there is a "backhander" in there.

BTW Why do you call redheads 'Bluey'?

Beg pardon? Would you have us call them "choco"?

Just funnin' with ya Tommy.

I don't like that considering the source comment. I read the paper and thought it was very interesting Hotspur. If you get a chance read Lockhart's "The Myth of Apostolic Authority".---Bill

I had a quick scan of it the other day - I will take a closer look.

Dave,
How can you possibly decide that TCP's appeal to non-specific gods is any form of abuse directed at you?
Having said that your post was pretty hilarious!
A rather plaintive cry for someone to take you seriously?
