The most interesting account relating to Bérenger Saunière came from a Monsieur Espeut, relating to his activities of the 1920s:

"...I would like to state that the Abbé Saunière never found any treasure. You see, I was actually born in Espéraza. My family knew the Dénarnaud family. In 1925, when I was 14 years old, I used to go up regularly to Rennes-le-Château. I used to go and see Marie Dénarnaud. She was living in rather pitiable circumstances. I did my harmony lessons on the organs in the salon, which have now disappeared. In the library of the Tour Magdala, I read all the correspondence of the priest with his ecclesiastical lawyer at the time of his trial at the court of Rome. It was by collecting money for saying masses that the Abbé Saunière was able to construct his estate. He published small ads in the Catholic press throughout the world. I was able to read their texts, and I have seen thousands of replies".(Midi Libre, 13 February, 1973).

There are plenty of good reasons why one should remain cautous in believing anything Philippe de Cherisey has to say, and the same can be said of Plantard. Why you choose to believe in them is beyond me.

I believe the parchments contain some truth because I have discovered things elsewhere which appear to make a connection. These things I have posted on my website www.davincisecrets.com and am willing to defend them as accurate. It bothers me not that you do not believe in my discoveries as is your right, but I challenge you to show how and where they are flawed.

Let's see, "non-existent parchments", that only existed originally in photocopied form. This makes a whole lot of sense.

Photocopies of what?

How much space does it take to hide something as thin as paper?

"The fake "parchments" originate from the context of Pierre Plantard and Philippe de Cherisey and from absolutely nowhere else" - yet Noel Corbu speaks of discovered parchments.

"there are letters in existence dating from the 1960s between Plantard and De Cherisey where they discuss the manufacture of these fake parchments". Can we see these letters, or are they also non-existent photocopies? How do we know they are not fakes? Are we just supposed to take your word for it?

"Jim Beck is a phoney and his "solution" to the "parchments" is based on nonsensical sacred landscape geometry mish-mash."

My solution has nothing to do with sacred landscape geometry.

"To take what Jim Beck has on offer seriouly would involve a wholesale rejection of the evidence relating to how Philippe de Cherisey created them".

There is more evidence to indicate de Cherisey is lying about having created the parchments, and why would I believe anything a known con-man had to say anyway?

"Jim Beck is unable to show that the "parchments" existed outside the context of Philippe de Cherisey and Pierre Plantard."

Like I said, Corbu spoke of parchments being discovered.

For the sake of accuracy, in Treasures of the World, by Robert Charroux, Corbu said the documents found were about the treasure of Blanche of Castille and I think a genealogy (it was quite a while ago I read it). But he may simply not have known what was contained in the parchments, just that parchments were found. Then he may well have concocted the whole story about Blanche to make things interesting and to make it look like he was in the know when, in fact, he had probably been told only the barest of facts about the subject. Marie died before she told anything juicey, so he had to make it up. True, he could have made up the WHOLE story, but I don't think he would have done that. There must have been a few people living in the area who knew the outline of the story, so he couldn't just fabricate everything. He had to stick to the basic facts.

Not that it matters, but something as thin as a parchment could fit under or in just about anything. And who says it has to be a pillar, Corbu was not there and was telling the story from second hand information. Most likely he made some embellishments, that does not mean parts arn't true.

The more one looks into the history of RLC, the stranger it all becomes and just because you think you have all the answers does not mean others are going to stop looking. If there's nothing there. then they will find nothing and have only wasted their own time in doing so. Why it bothers you so, I can only assume, is a condition you have no control over.

You shot yourself in the foot on this one didn't you Smith?

So it wasn't started by Corbu after all.

Did David Williams "run away" or did he give up trying to communicate with a mental incompetent?

Well you're next.

Oh and why do you keep dodging the fact that Espeut was looking for treasure long before Corbu?

Tull cannot understand the simplest of statements:

Quoting Philippe de Cherisey from 1978
Today visitors to RENNES-LE-CHATEAU are encouraged to admire, at the home of Monsieur BUTHION, the restaurateur who keeps the Hôtel de la Tour, two superb enlargements of photocopies of MY ENCIPHERED TEXTS!

Yes well we all know that he and Plantard wanted to discredit De Sede, common knowledge.

Why has he only got photocopies of the TEXT THAT HAD BEEN ENCIPHERED?

Let me put the question another way:

Why has the originator of the texts only got photocopies of his own creation?

Tell that proven document forger Chaumeil that photocopies are not proof of anything.

here's the question again.

Why has the so-called originator of the texts only got photocopies of his own creation?

Yes well I have enciphered texts also, in fact they are the same ones he has.

I didn't encipher them though and neither did he.
