Indeed. And another thing I'd like to point out is that Steve's theories are a work in progress, I've known him for over a decade and one thing I can say about him is that he is not tied to specific outcomes. His mind is always open and his theories are fluid.

Well, the Celtic (or properly Celtiberian) term labaro is taken directly from the Basque/Gascon/Aquitanian lauburu. If you're going to mix Greek and Latin you've got a few missing consonants and syllables to account for.

yes, that was apparent to me.
think he got fed up with on-upmanship (sp?) and the air of superiority some display.

:roll:

it has got me seriously thinking i tell you.

to communicate one needs to be aware of all of the subtle jabs that may be presented. there seems to be a paucity of good faith communication all around.
and this is not ever going to change.

i have done my best to be as straight-forward and respectful as possible.
i have revealed myself as a human with all her mistakes and her strengths.
i have done enough i think.

There's no doubt you do need a tough hide to survive here in Arcadia!

Are you sure you weren't simply misreading his intelligence, learning and erudition?
Personally, i was sad to see him go, and sympathised with his frustration.
You have to be tough to survive here? Maybe. But that can come in many forms.

btw Tingra, your byline is quite intriguing (i'm assuming the typo and bad punctuation are intentional). Nice one.

Tender, cream puff me, if ya go out from what my own kids say,.. would have a hard time finding me bein' described like this...

There's no doubt you do need a tough hide to survive here in Arcadia! VAM

At times I re...zemble that remark, but only, 'cuz circumstances call for me dishin' out tough love to deal with errant kiddies on the forum. Ya see, from my age perspective, yer all lil' teeny bops to me, barely finished from kickin' the slats out of yer crib.

Now when it comes to copin' with all the farflung digressions dapper Herr Red Herring of downtown rotten apple fame promoted again, considerin' how he didn't learn from his previous fiasco, a rousin' debate is needed at times to re-arrange the historical furniture on a sinkin' Titanic.

Steve's not like that, I've known him a long time and he's never behaved that way. He doesn't have a lot of patience for mind games though.

besides all of this I love me, who do ya love mutual admiration society, when is the RLC scene gonna tie-in with the crista scene...if ever?

I am still waitin' for the smokin pistol evidence Sauniere ever knew 'boot the crista. Just havin' wall decor don't mean a thing, unless there is a memo for the record from Sauniere as to why he interjected it. If an itinerant wall paper huckster came along and showed Sauniere a sample of his wares and how it would fit into Sauniere's overall decor program, my take is other folks outside of the enigma came up with most of the decor Sauniere eventually chose.

The rest so far is just an exercise in how to re-arrange historical 'thangs' on a sinkin' ship. Who is gonna rescue the sinkin' crista and get it to float again?

In feb 2009 Roger said;
Quote:
I did what I wanted to do. I made you conscious of its existence, and I believe we had fun doing it?. Do with that as you please, from there on.

And
Quote:
No, Roger is quite impressed and pleased with you all.
I hinted, you found.

In August 2010 Roger said;
Quote:
Personally, I'd just as soon everyone forget about it and go run around excavating individual and irrelevant tombs or hollowing out a mountain, or making treasure maps out of completely unrelated paintings.

What interests me Tingra is what happened in the 18 months between these posts to affect such a dramatic change of tack?
As you can see I'm lifting quotes so as I'm not open to accusations of twisting words.
One minute we are all on a glorious paperchase and the next its no longer discussible?

How about Roger suddenly realised that IBJ had got the wrong end of the stick regarding the interpretation of the symbolism and is now sitting patiently to see what other info surfaces.

Just to remind anyone who might have forgotten: the crista was introduced by us being asked where it was displayed in Sauniere's church. So i for one would say it does belong in the RLC thread.

That also makes it doubly puzzling that the fact of Sauniere's knowledge and possible possession and supposed use of it is being edged away from. More head games or a change of heart?
