Hi Dave,
I can only go out from what I saw goin' on in the clinic I worked at recording the histories of LSD abusers. Other psychotropics elicited similar responses and the shrinks I worked with went by their clinical experience and the susceptible mind type of patient had the most fantastic histories under hypnosis.

As ya know not all people can be hypnotized, even if they wanna be. They have to have the suggestibility threshold set so low it only takes a skilled hypnotist a minute or less to get them in that state of mental suspension.

If ya inject somnoleptics like Thorazine to lower this threshold ya can extend the range of hypnotizable folks. The point I make is, the easier it is to hypnotize the easier for these folks to let their fantasy states to take over.

Another key point is, the more hysterical prone a person is, the easier it is to hypnotize them. This was the type of patient 1 shrink I worked with to wean them off drugs. He just re-inforced what antabuse does to an alcoholic, which is to get them violently nauseated every time they imbibed alcohol. This shrink prescribed antabuse as a detox med and told the druggie he should drink some beer to settle his stomach prior to using what ever drug he was on and to lower the dose of the drug if he felt these bouts of extreme nausea.

My follow up job was to elicit what mental state history that particular patient manifested when he felt the urge to take what ever drug he was on. The most common were thoughts of extreme withdrawal to get away from societal stressors. When these patients had their initial state of euphoria their psycho histories were conflated, they saw the most fantastic apparitions, some benevolent, sometimes evil. They were never angelic, mostly demonic in nature. As their trips became more violent in nature they came in for help to get rid of their demons.

Correct and why I edited my previous here. We strive to be purely academic here now as Damiana will attest.

Thanks Jabberwoc,

That is a little more straightforward to answer, although please bear in mind I am not a medical expert or a psychiariatric one. But I will come back to it tomorrow, if that's Okay. I need a little relaxation of my own tonight having got drenched in rain a little earlier, and still having some other things to attend to.

I'd lay a generous wager of his song lyrics doing it, even if heavily edited for anonymity.

Or the letters b, s, and m were used so frequently in all sentences the post was un-salvageable.

Is that “Bérenger Saunière, Maverick”? :D
Or "Bishop Summers, Montague", supposed expert on witchcraft?

Hi David,

What a great interview! You don't come across as anything other than a thoroughly nice guy :-)

Love Jen.

Perhaps Demonologist would care to join us here in Arcadia?

One letter away from BDSM.

Could someone please tell me what the question was?

Or is it just a mutual appreciation society with no questions asked?

Jen DID ask a question, 'Caledfwich', in case you hadn't noticed. I chose not to answer her other one, so though she deserved some sort of reply. What's wrong with that?

I am still trying to find out what the question is in her statement.

Are you going to answer my own question, by the way?

Hi David,

Some people would prefer that we squabble rather than be nice to each other.
I find that rather sad.

Anyway, here is a question for you:
When did you first meet the author and exorcist Gareth J. Medway and how many investigations have you undertaken together?

Thanks
Jen.
x.

I thought Caledfwich had an oddly aggressive attitude for a newcomer. JD's supposition may be correct -- if not a clone, then a crony.

I also have a question. I did ask it on the unoffical "17 Questions: David Farrant" but got no response. Here goes again.

In your interview you say "I am also involved in a full-length feature film on the Highgate Vampire case at the moment, which is due for release in 2010."

Would you tell us more about this film, your part in it and who is producing it?

According to what you posted on the unoffical thread an answer should soon be forthcoming.

Thank you for your reference about not being obliged (myself) to answer any questions. I know! But I have always made it my policy to answer questions about anything I have said in public or may have written about in my books or other articles. As to refuse to answer questions (which I never do unless I genuinely can't, then I'll say I just don't know), is somehow taking the 'coward's way out'. If you state something in public, I just feel you are morally obliged to answer questions about what you may have stated.

I have not squabbled. I have not been aggressive. I have not attacked anyone or made insinuations and snide remarks.

By the way, I am no more a newcomer than is Jenny who joined immediately after BaldryCat.

What is DVB's problem?

Can I ask Caledfwlch the following:

Having read "17 Questions with Sean Manchester" and "17 Questions with David Farrant" who would you most like to meet up with and share a bottle of wine or a few beers? Personally I found the Bishop to be rather curmudgeonly and self important. David sounds like a proper London gent and a swell guy to boot.

Precisely.

Neither especially.

Do you base you bias against one and for the other on what you have read on this forum, or are you acquainted with one or both?
