The Vampires are not as loyal as wolves

It works for me

I like Black pudding, does this mean she'll come to slay me?

And, as for me, like I said, Kate Beckinsale can bite me anyplace she chooses.

Image

(OK, that's not a shot of her in Underworld vampire costume, just holding a diet coke. And as a blonde!)

Probably my 2nd favorite vampire movie series (sorry don't go for the Teeny-bopper stuff like Twilight or Buffy) is Blade, just because Wesley Snipes is a badass.

I really dug the laser weapon they used in Blade: Trinity -- the female vampire hunter (Jessica Biel) there was hot, too.

You are joking about BtVS being "Teeny-bopper stuff"? Did you ever watch it?
It's probably had more academic papers written on it than any other supposedly teen TV.
I'm working my way through it all on DVD, and appreciating again the astonishing creativity, talent and skill of the writing and production. Several years on it still makes most other SF/Fantasy/Horror/Supernatural TV look a bit silly.

there is a true 'dance' between the vampire hunter and the vampire...
in the end, in some inexplicable way...they both need eachother...one another...
imho...

I very much agree; I was a big fan. What really set it apart from other shows of this type, I think, was the sheer quality of the writing; and its humour and sense of irony. And the brilliance of its concept - which was to blend the genres of gothic horror and high school drama - sort of Transylvania meets Americana - with a premise that was superficially absurd but somehow worked within the reality it created. And as with any successful drama, one cared about the characters, with their human flaws. It lost its way towards the end, and they probably should have ended it after the fifth season, with its highly climactic ending, rather than stretch it out for another two series, but then we never would have got that superlative musical episode .....

But yes, immensely creative, as you say, and a great show.

Incidentally, Joss Whedon, the creator and driving force behind the series, is an American, but went to school in England, a few hundred yards from where I'm sitting, as it happens, at Winchester College. I wonder to what extent it might have influenced some of his creative ideas.

And Spike eventually became the real star of the show, in many ways.

That was the redemption thread in the story.

I saw the original movie. I liked Pee Wee Herman in it. I watched one or two eps. of the TV series. Never could get into it.

Whatever. Everyone has different cups of tea, I had friends who watched it constantly. Just wasn't my thing.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was married in 2002. Now Sarah Michelle Prinz.

She once came on TV with a see through blouse on, one of those memorable moments one doesn't forget.

I understand VAM

I didn't know Josh Whedon went to school in Britain
I LOVED his writing and yes I was a Spike FAN
but I'm a changed woman now I go for the HAIR

Image

Right before he dies
Buffy tells him "I love you." He replies, "No, you don't — but thanks for saying it".

Spike: I had a plan.
Angel: You, a plan?
Spike: Yeah, a good plan. Smart. Carefully laid out. But I got bored.

We like to talk big, vampires do. I'm going to destroy the world. That's just tough guy talk. Strutting around with your friends over a pint of blood. The truth is, I like this world. You've got – the dog racing, Manchester United, and you've got people: billions of people walking around like Happy Meals with legs. It's all right here. But then someone comes along with a vision, with a real passion for destruction. Angel could pull it off. Goodbye Piccadilly, farewell Leicester bloody Square." — Spike ("Becoming, Part Two").

I agree the Writing was AWESOME
but I still am rooting for the wolvie

That Sarah Michelle Gellar is hot - I agree.

In Cruel Intentions --- rrrrrowr.

But they couldn't show too much skin in Buffy -- it was being watched by too many tweens.

The BBC actually censored BtVS for early evening transmission, with an uncut version later in the evening.
