The claim that the SOT PECHEUR word grid is written in red ink is from the "17 Questions" interview with Ben Hammott. In light of the confession in a bottle which refers to Abbe Gelis (God Rest His Soul), are there other clues that make more sense in the SOT PECHEUR document? MJA

It looks like the sot pecheur thing was found by Henri Buthion when he bought the Villa Bethania from Noel Corbu....

Presumably then Ben makes that claim in his book. But what's his source for that idea? It apparently convinced Andy Gough, who's a very reasonable guy, but I've never heard of it before.

Reproduced by whom? And how did they know what the original looked like?

i'll try and find it when i get home from work ... i am pretty sure i kept it on my computer ... i will post it. Hopefully i still have where i got it from ...but if i dont it would have been from a standard RLC website...From what i recall, and remember this is from vague memory, it isnt the whole document in red, just certain lines...

SOT PECHEUR a l’embouchure du Rhone

Bouches-du-Rhône

Occitan: Bocas de Ròse

Yes in Occitan the Rhône is called Ròse. Did you know that Roger?

Could the Stupid Fisherman be one of the 7 at Avignon? Or maybe it's Arles being refered to. Both being on the Rhône (Ròse) of course.

See Book of Tobit

“Better pleased
Than Asmodeus with fishy fume
That drove him, though enamoured (sic), from the spouse
Of Tobit’s son, and with vengeance sent
From Media post to Egypt, there fast bound”

Milton’s Paradise Lost iv 167-71

Quote:
Arnould de Chiny's Orval monks, God rest their souls, are STILL Benedictines. :)

Yes and Bigfoot roams the redwood forest.

Santa Claus lives in Lapland

And Popo the magic pixie lives in Dingly Dell

I offer nothing to support these claims of course but then neither do you

Roger brings a whole new slant on the phrase

Fairy Tale

Two things:

1) "ce qui est moins connu, c'est qu'il consultait régulièrement un voyant-médium de Carcassonne une fois par mois afin de le guider dans ses recherches."

It was found with the help of a medium? Give me a break.

2) What this site says is that the Sot Pecheur was found written on a side of "schoolboy's paper with red squares" (a carreaux rouges). It says nothing about being written in red ink. But I found a site through Roger's link which is more intriguing:

http://www.apprendre-en-ligne.net/crypt ... niere.html

The two manuscripts are written in red ink and in a style very similar to that of the messages. I don't know what to make of this.

Oh, I just noticed that Sandy wasn't claiming that the whole thing was written in red ink, just certain lines. My apologies, I was reading too carelessly.

There are several versions of the SOT PECHEUR on Google images. What does it say or refer to? Is it a key to a code?
I have to go write to Sam the Merovingian to tell him that Sauniere did not murder Abbe Gelis. Sam lives in Melbourne and lost friends in the terrible fires over there. He enjoys reading your debates. And yes, Sam has had his DNA done - there are Middle Eastern markers in it.
