That's pretty much how I see it, although I only actively joined the forum during the period Bruce was 'questioning' the 'tomb's' legitimacy. I'd suggest that most of the 'desperate to believe brigade' were located on other, less 'questioning' forums. IMHO that is a very good sign for this forum. Many of the posters here make a really tough target audience. IMHO that is healthy and the way it should be. If people are going to make claims, those claims should be open to examination. If those claims do not stand up to scrutiny, well, it is what it is! As Rain pointed out above, there are extremely astute people on this forum. It is a great place to test out genuine research and theories IMHO. Problems only arise when some people refuse to accept that a cherished idea is flawed. It quickly becomes personal then, for many obvious reasons. Perhaps this latest fiasco might cause some people to be more questioning in future and also more tolerant of those who are, by nature or experience, more demanding of demonstrable evidence.

Very succinct summation. This forum is about as close as all of us armchair historians and theorists are going to come to peer review, which is something that other forums in the genre are sorely lacking.

Ouch, thats harsh!
I can believe, just show me some verifiable proof and I'll believe anyone!
When I can see holes in the logic I say so; no amount of abuse in a foreign language will change that!

Good point - and it's not about me, I know that people suffered and for that I'm really sorry.

Let's apply a little perspective here folks, can anyone say that they've actually 'suffered' any physical or mental anguish as a result of Ben's activities?
It's hardly in the same league as the Tsunami, is it?

Now, it can be argued that many have witnessed the immolation of their reputations as a result of what might be seen as their cupidity, naivety or stupidity.
but, look upon it as more like a bonfire of the vanities.................

Any 'anguish' they may be suffering will be as a result of their utter humiliation in defending, so trenchantly, this tosh!

Chin up folks, Spring is here!

TD

Well said. This victim enjoyed the book, the film, the speculation...even though I thought the tomb decidedly dodgy. And in the end by his fraud the guy's damaged his other researches...as I've mentioned before for example his access to Chateau Hautpoul. C'est la vie ! (howzatt, Tertius ? )

Could be. Can't account for the tastes of others (particularly the ladies).

Outrageous! Why would all those women exploit Ben????
I believe the correct explanation was that nothing untoward happened, they were merely offering him a bed for the night.
Camper vans aren't that comfortable...........
At least that's the current defence being offered!

enough double entrende already

Remember HL found a small concrete pool near the centre of the pentacle of mountains

http://www.henrylincoln.co.uk/blog.php?id=36&e=234

does anyone know if it is still there? I'm looking on google earth at the approximate place I would have thought it was, trying to match the road shape in HL's aerial photo with today's satellite images and it would seem like there is quite thick forest there now (if I have the correct location)
I wanted to go to la Pique this year and thought I might see if the pool was there

Hi Davinho. If I remember correctly Sheila explained this in another thread a while back.AFAIK the pool is not there in the same format but some form of water still exists. Maybe someone who can remember will expand on this.

Are you sure you've got the right place? Maybe Richard could help you he's familiar with the area.

If you zoom in you can see an oblong shape, (with 2011 google superimposed on top of it) lhat looks to be in the same area.

Yeah, you've got the right place. I regret not sneaking in to have a look last June...

The centre of the Pentacle of Mountains btw is the slope below La Pique.

... the slope or more likely the "warrior's head", that magical rock? When you sit on it you're facing RLC and might even "get it". :)
