I'm normally suspicious of this sort of thing but IMO the discovery of the missing page the Sforziada gives Kemp and the pro-Leonardo/Sforza faction the upper hand at this point. The age of the vellum eliminates the possibility of a mis-attributed German work of the 18th Century (which was one theory). The painting's apparent lack of age and provenance prior to the 20th Century remain a problem, but may possibly be explained if the picture remained between the pages of the book until recently and was thus somehow protected and that it was stolen fairly recently.

Les preuves physiques de la provenance du dessin sont incontournables. Que ce dessin aie ete vole ou pas, difficile de le savoir avec la moindre certitude.

La question qui importe demeure: est-ce de la main de Da Vinci, ou pas?

Et ca, c'est deja bien plus difficile a prouver.
