I don't like the Japanese now ? I accused you of being a Koi racist or whatever that previous rant was about?
Geesh what will you come up with next!
I see you have a very active imagination rain, slanting things in such a way to serve your agendas. :(
The only problem with this is that you miss so much else......new things that you might actually have enjoyed learning and discussing.

Blah, Blah, Blah. Whatever.

Very Active imagination - I see the humour in that charge coming from the person whom alleges she's the "descendant of J.C."

Here's a bit of real life, darls get used to it.

Quote:
Just another Vatican scandal

'Vatileaks' is just the latest scandal to grip an institution dogged down by centuries of corruption.

Wealth Generation Power-hungry cardinals, spies and a suspicious butler: 'Vatileaks' is just the latest scandal to grip an institution dogged down the centuries by damning tales of greed, corruption and betrayal.

From clerical sex abuse scandals to accusations of money-laundering and ties with the mafia over the years, critics do not have to indulge in Dan Brown Da Vinci Code theories to accuse the Church of slipping from its moral code.

While rumours of wild sex parties are today more easily associated with former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, the tiny Vatican state in the heart of Rome was once a hotbed of lust and depravity.

Tenth-century pope John XII, appointed aged just 18, is said to have indulged his teenage sex drive by throwing exotic orgies, sparking outraged religious observers to describe the Lateran palace, the papal home, as a whore house.

Benedict IX, accused by his enemies of being a rapist and a murderous 'demon from hell,' reportedly whiled away his time in homosexual trysts before selling his papacy, trying to take it back again by force and being unceremoniously excommunicated.

Alexander VI, from the immensely powerful and nepotistic Borgia family, threw a famous banquet in Rome in 1501 at which 50 courtesans and cardinals reportedly won prizes for crawling around naked to pick up scattered chestnuts.

Some popes were elected as Italy's elite jostled for power, while others gleefully used the papacy for personal - and sometime bizarre - vendettas.

Ninth-century Pope Stephen VI has gone down in history for digging up his predecessor, propping his corpse up on a throne and putting him on trial for becoming pope illegally - before finding him guilty and tossing him into the Tiber.

Tolerance for bad behaviour did not extend to Pope Joan, who legend has it disguised herself as a man in the Middle Ages but was caught out when she gave birth, leading to a now-defunct tradition of checking under future popes' robes.

Though tales of prostitutes and poisoned chalices have subsided over the last few centuries, the church has been rocked in recent years by a clerical abuse scandal which has revealed cases of paedophilia in parishes worldwide.

Thousands of victims have come forward to confront their abusers and accuse the church of engaging in a systematic cover-up by moving suspected priests on to other parishes and endangering other children rather than reporting them.

The Holy See has also been hit hard by accusations of mafia ties, fraud and money-laundering within the Vatican bank, known as the Institute for Religious Works (IOR).

In 1982 the IOR was caught up in one of Italy's biggest fraud cases when Milan's Banco Ambrosiano - of which it was the main shareholder - collapsed.

Banco Ambrosiano's chairman Roberto Calvi, known as 'God's banker' because of his ties with the Vatican, was found hanging from London's Blackfriars Bridge.

More recently, the IOR's head was ousted in an apparent battle over tax transparency as the institution failed to shake off its reputation for opacity.

The Italian mafia's use of the IOR to launder money is also thought to be a key clue to the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a Vatican employee's daughter in 1983 - a conspiracy-filled enigma that has gripped Italy.

The tomb of an Italian gangster suspected of her murder was excavated in May in an attempt to find clues to the girl's fate. He was buried in a basilica - a rare privilege thought to be due to his shady Vatican connections.

In recent months, it has been the 'Vatileaks' scandal which has hit the headlines around the world, after leaks of secret Vatican documents to the press enraged the Holy See and led to the arrest of the pope's personal butler.

It is not the first time the tiny state has been infiltrated.

The Nazis had Pope Pius XII's personal telephone tapped - though an apparent plan to smuggle spies in dressed as monks failed - and during the Cold War the Vatican's cloisters were saturated with Soviet spooks.

According to religious watchers, the latest scandal is a struggle for power - a plot by rebellious cardinals to unseat the Vatican's number two man and begin preparing the way for their chosen candidate to become future pope.

The leaked papal documents, filched from the pope's desk, refer to the clerical abuse and IOR controversies, as well as the kidnapping.

With the Vatican investigation ongoing, and rumours the butler may be about to spill the beans on his fellow whistle-blowers, the latest scandal may be far from over.

Hi Rain,
Unfortunately I've lost track of the amount of scandals associated with the Vatican.
From the extremely suspect death of John Paul I ( who was Pope for 33 days, the masonic connection being obvious ), way back to the Borgias and their scandalous behaviour the Vatican has deep rooted corruption.
I have as much faith in the Vatican as with any other large corporation that have multi-million dollar finance and links to global governments.
Their crimes through the Inquisition to more recent Mafia ties and paedophilia should not be forgotten :(
Regards
Nic

It's a conspiracy! The racoons were in disguise--sent by agents from the Vatican. :D

If you go to the Vatican website they actually have a section dealing with the above mentioned serious criminal matters. There is something fundamentally wrong with the church is this is happening.
I think it's always been a bit of running joke that the Vatican bank has close ties to the Mafia and other suspect organisations.
It's sad.

Actually Serendipity, Shasta was having a go at me because I'm mixed blood. Maybe if you'd spent your life being patronised by labels such as cherry blossom, china doll, nip, gook, coconut head et al you wouldn't find the koi pond joke funny at all.

Good to know where you stand.

Actually, Rain, I had/have no idea what your ancestry is/was. I still don't know if you are a male or a female!
We are all of mxed ancestry...terrestrial pound puppies...mutts...that's the fun of DNA!

Did I tell you that my DNA also revealed I had a great grandmother who was fronm the northern tribe of Ainu in Japan? Full-blooded Ainu are lighter skinned than their Japanese neighbors and have more body hair. Early investigators proposed a Caucasian ancestry, but modern DNA tests have not shown any genetic similarity with modern Europeans. So one of my ancestrors may have been a sailor who brought home an Ainu bride? I have no idea how she got uinto our lineage, but I love knowing she is in there somewhere!

I would never poke fun at anyone's ancestry..well...I might be tempted if you said your parents were aliens from another planet.. otherwise, we are equals here.

Probably through the Baring strait.

Now please take down Koi pond attacks in the title - I don't like it, it's not about how you feel about it - it offends me. Koi are religious symbols.

Really, Rain?

My childhood was very abusive, didn't have anything to do with ethnicity. Considering the memories, if it were just name calling or being patronised, that maybe wouldn't be so bad, I may not have ended up so scarred....sticks and stones and all that.

All I was doing was trying to lighten things up a bit. It ain't all about you, and I really didn't have you in mind when I posted it. Take a chill pill chick. You don't know where I stand on anything. You just want someone new to swing at.....I've got a cheek for you and will turn the other. Feel better yet?

I think my pond is rather lovely, and if you could not be so defensive about everything, you might have noticed that.

There is a virtual global taskforce that has been set up dealing with protecting children in the virtual world. This includes streamlining data collection and tracking for a more rapid response.
http://www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com/w ... countries/

The Vatican still has a long way to go and their rings are very sophisticated and protected in the past they have provided international safe havens for these Problems priests that have a higher incidence then in any other demographic of abuse of minors.

The Vatican is an individual state and therefore it has priveleges that no other network has and that is state-sponsored laws that protect criminals undermining the jurisdictions of the countries that these crimes may occur in.

Abuse of Minor's the Church's response.
Modifications made in the Normae de gravioribus delictis.
