Hallowmas
31rd October

Samhain Night
When the moon on a cloud cast night
shine above the tree tops'bright
You sang me of some distant past
That made my heart beat strong and fast
Now I know I'm home at last

You offered me an eagle's wing
That to the sun I might soar and sing
And if I heard the owl's cry
Into the forest I would fly
And in its darkness find you by.

And so our love's not a simple thing
Nor our truths unwavering
But like the moon's pull on the tide
Our fingers touch our hearts collide
I'll be a moon's breath from your side

I love this woman

Play this at my funeral

This is the best thread so far, a beautiful poem, pretty magic, and the sweetest, most moving song.
What more can you ask for.
Here's my contribution even though I'm not from Vermont it still looks yummy.

Vermont Pumpkin Walnut Cheesecake

(16 servings)

Ingredients:

1 pkg. (6 ounces) zwieback crackers, crushed (1 1/2 cups)
1/2 cupGranulated sugar
6 tbsp. Butter, melted
3 pkg. (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup Granulated sugar
3/4 cup Firmly packed light brown sugar
5 Eggs
1 can (16 ounces) pumpkin
1 3/4 tsp. Pumpkin pie spice
1/4 cup Heavy cream

Walnut Topping (recipe follows)

Instructions:

Blend zwieback crumbs, the 1/4 cup sugar and the butter in a medium-size bowl. Press firmly over bottom and up side of a lightly buttered 9-inch spring-form pan. Chill.

Beat cream cheese in a large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth. Add sugars gradually, beating until well mixed. Beat in eggs one at a time, until mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and heavy cream at low speed. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake in a slow oven (325 degrees F.) for 1 hour and 35 minutes. Remove the cake from oven, sprinkle with Walnut Topping, bake an additional 10 minutes. Cool cake on wire rack, refrigerate for several hours, or overnight. Garnish with whipped cream and pecans, if you wish.

Walnut Topping:

6 tbsp. butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup walnuts

Combine softened butter with firmly packed light brown sugar in a small bowl, mix well until crumbly. Blend in coarsely chopped walnuts.

Turnips and Swedes are just so hard to cut so we went for the easy option. I think our lovely mums were made of sterner stuff!

Well we had a big bucket of treats at the ready but not a trick or treater in sight - I guess the Saints & Sausages won this year!

Great Pumpkin Zak!!!
Well are street has a reputation of being the Scariest Fun street
Went through 8 large bags of candy
We probably had 200-300 kids

I put out my motion detector talking skeleton and lights and ghosts

my neighbor up the street made a Haunted House

you have to be a brave soul to get a piece of candy from them

Great songs and Great recipes Thanks Rain Tingra and Sheila for the Skeleton

HAPPY NEW YEAR (Celtic)

Loreena McKennitt - All souls night

Bonfire dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound.

Somewhere in a hidden memory
Images float before my eyes
Of fragrant nights of straw and of bonfires
And dancing till the next sunrise.

Chorus
I can see the lights in the distance
Trembling in the dark cloak of night
Candles and lanterns are dancing, dancing
A waltz on All Souls Night.

Figures of cornstalks bend in the shadows
Held up tall as the flames leap high
The green knight holds the holly bush
To mark where the old year passes by.

Chorus

Bonfires dot the rolling hillsides
Figures dance around and around
To drums that pulse out echoes of darkness
Moving to the pagan sound.

Standing on the bridge that crosses
The river that goes out to the sea
The wind is full of a thousand voices
They pass by the bridge and me.

Chorus - 2x

Spinning and Weaving at the Celtic New Year

New Year Starts at Rennes le Chateau 07:09:11 this morning when the Sun will be seen to rise over La Soulane (The Solar line - Occitan) when viewed from Rennes le Chateau. This is down one side of Lincoln's pentacle of mountains.

But hey it's all coincidence you understand
As everyone simply KNOWS for certain (and is oh so very very confident) that Lincoln's pentacle is nonsense.

“In the Aude, the peasants rather believe in the malignant spirit, the fairies and the underground geniuses than with the Virgin and the Angels”
Gaston Jourdanne: Contribution to the Folklore of the Aude, 1900
