Theres never been any evidence of King Solomon found. His age seems to be around the 10th century BC.
Some archaeologists were trying to find evidence of where the wealth of the ancient Edmoites came from. They found the above site - wadi faynan - which showed ancient mines and skeletons in a cemetery etc. They found evidence of smelting on a massive scale. They found tunnels extending down to perhaps a depth of 31 metres into the Earth, lots of iron slag, etc etc which showed umistakable workings of a copper mine.
They found also here an Egyptian shrine, scarabs and other Egyptian artefacts.
Possible reconstruction from the archaeology:
Egyptians controlled this mine before Solomon.
Made the owners and controllers of this mine very wealthy
No evidence of Edomites occupying mines in 10th and 11th century - did King David invade (Bible states he invaded edom lands) to take control of this mine?
Solomon would have had control of mine also, after his father died.
Solomons Temple is said to have been made with imported copper.
Later, Shishaq of Egypt invaded and laid waste Israel .... and took control of the mines???
Another fascinating archaeological dig - suggesting wadi faynan in southern Jordan was the original site of KingSolomons mines
