Maybe the arms have a clue to that within themselves. Or maybe there is only one way to line them up that makes sense. We'll see if I get them all collected.

Edgar Winter....

Both are albinos, Edgar and Johnny Winter. The latter is still the more famous one and played Woodstock:

VAM - just wait and sip your tea. :D

btw.
I never said there are aliens out there doing that crazy job. All I know is that some works can't be explained and done by fakers. It's like with UFO sightings: about 5 % can't be determined.

I`m glad there`s an interpretation with this one, a winged rattler - very Chichen Itza.

Not sure I follow, Renne. :? Location is Alton Barnes white horse (cut in 1812). Right in the absolute heart of croppie country. Not the first time that field's had a crop formation in it (Andrew has a photo of one in the Gallery), you get loads in the fields along the foot of that escarpment.

Such as here, at Huish, reported on 20th June, very basic one:

http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/2012 ... h2012.html

I found one here in 2010.

And not very far away at Cherhill, by another white horse (1780), another one reported on 25th June. So quite a flurry of activity in that part of Wiltshire, the past few nights. Warmer evenings in southern England this week, much less rain.

This is the album I saw as a child. Can't remember which brother owned it, I just know I saw it laying around all the time.

I just remember thinking how strange he looked. It has definately stuck with me all of these years.

Who knows?

Dippity: I believe all of the genuine ones are performed with a laser scanner from the air.

More interesting CCC:
Slovakia: http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/inter2012/Slovakia/hul2012a.html
(am going to Slovakia soon :) )

As you can see here, it's happening in 28 countries:

This design is similar to the winged rattlesnake formation near the White Horse.

A small-ish 3D-type formation here, discovered recently in a barley field just outside Winchester.

http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/2012 ... 2012a.html

This is only a couple of miles from me, near to a path I walk along quite often, so if it should stop raining for five minutes in the next few days, I'll wander over and see if I can get some ground shots of it. Not hugely optimistic on either count, due to dire weather forecast (don't mind walking in it, but it's rubbish for photos), and what I imagine will be lie of the land issues in that part of the field, relative to the public footpath on the other side of the road, but I'll have a go.

Well, I saw it, but I couldn't get that close, and the weather was awful, steady drizzle and everything shrouded in mist, quite nice at first, a summer mizzle, everything very sodden, lush hedgerows, etc., but then it really chucked it down. I drove over to the village of Chilcomb, and then walked up Telegraph Hill, and you could see it over on Chilcomb Down, not a bad view, because one was a little bit above it, but very hazy through all the rain. And then I stood there for ages like a bit of a numpty because I could see this little sliver of pale grey sky inching across the South Downs, so I thought the weather might be about to clear, and that's when it started to pour. Anyway, this is barely worth showing, but this is it, just so I didn't get soaked for nothing.

Image

There's probably a better view to be had from another angle, over on Magdalene Down, and it's supposed to be dry tomorrow, so I might try and get a look at it from there.

Off-topic, but just to make a slight segue over to today's Independence celebrations in the US, but the village of Chilcomb, at the bottom of Telegraph Hill, has a very pretty church, called St James, very old, mostly 12th century, whose rector between 1803 and 1812 was John Washington, a relative of the first President.

Richard, well done! Thank you for making the effort to get some pictures..especially Thank you on behalf of all
the Yanks celebrating our birthday today..... apparently the Washingtons are not forgotten on either side of the pond!

Here is an interesting mask made of the real George Washington's features:

Hope you're managing to stay cool. Actually, there are two connections to US presidents on that little stretch of footpath, because a couple of miles on from that church in Chilcomb, a little way over to the right of where that crop formation is, there's a place called Cheesefoot Head, a big natural ampitheatre with steep grass banks. In WWII thousands of British and American troops camped there, and General Eisenhower, as he then was, gave an address there, just before D-Day. It was also used for boxing matches, to entertain the troops, and the heavyweight champion Joe Lewis, who was a PE instructor in the US army, fought there.

It's also got a bit of a reputation for crop circles, including this bizarre incident from 1989.

thanks Richard, i remember hearing about that incident just after it happened...it was one of the reasons we went down to the area for a month to see the circles for ourselves in the summer of '90.
