Since Ben Hammott has linked this forum thread from his website, I have added this preface. This was an early thread of mine. For more recent material see my "Douzet Model Theory Demolished" thread, also linked by Hammott. The title may sound a little harsh. I may have got a little carried away. Incidentally, thanks to Ben for the links. I have been a rather harsh critic of his own tomb discoveries. I found a few things that seemed inconsistent. I am still willing to be convinced that the tomb is real. I want to point out that I have nothing against Ben personally. He does have a lot of other good material about the RLC mystery on his website. Just that from what he has shown so far it seems unlikely to me that the tomb is real and I merely showed the inconsistencies I perceived, such as a large chest in the most recent tomb film being shifted in position by about a foot from where it was in his first tomb film. Things like that just make someone like me wonder what's going on and if the whole thing was staged. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Nobody can say for certain until an impartial official of some sort checks it out and verifies it. Now here is the original part of this post;
I have some doubts about Douzet's claims of discovering two tombs by using Sauniere's model. I have looked all over the Perillos area with Google Earth, using the 3D terrain views, and I have found nothing which resembles the model, even right in the area labelled Opoul-Perillos. In fact, I looked all over the whole RLC and neighboring areas and no such landscape exists. I also find the thing about identifying Roc Redon by making a reverse impression of the model unbelievable. Doesn't sound like something Sauniere would have intended, more like a coincidental outcome.
Then we have the claims that he found some artifacts just laying right inside the entrance to one of the tombs. He said there was money and other things right there in easy access. Sounds like a rather doubtful scenario. It sounds more like a story to try to validate how he got the artifacts without violating the tomb. The whole story about a tomb being partially accessible sounds made up to me. I also don't believe that a cave exists in that area with a big oval rock blocking the hole. How could that have been missed by others all this time? The photo shows it is not even covered by vegetation or anything, just a big yellowish oval stone right there in plain view.
If Douzet really found those tombs he would be putting out much more convincing evidence. Instead, all we really have are his verbal claims and a few artifacts that could have come from anywhere. I have a feeling Ben Hammott actually got the idea for his whole fake tomb story from Douzet. I think Douzet should provide some GOOD evidence of his claims or admit that he is just another hoaxer.
See this tomb picture below? How could you not find that? And look at the scale of the white flowers to the left. The tomb stone must be no more than about 2-3 feet in diameter unless those are giant flowers.
The size of the oval stone was reported as about 2 meters. That would make the flowers probably a good 6-8 inches across. How would Douzet know that's a tomb anyway? He hasn't been on the other side of the stone. Maybe it's just a natural stone. It doesn't even look like a real stone because it is oddly reflective. You could see that thing a mile away.
Is this Roc Redon? If so, the landscape around it does not resemble the model.
