THIS DAEMON GUARDIAN AT MIDDAY BLUE APPLES

Blue apples in my opinion means wine or grapes. Here is a Poussin painting with rather large grapes almost the size of the apples being picked in the background.

Does anyone recognize the background countryside? Could this be part of the key?

The Four Seasons : Autumn or The grapes of the promised land or The Grapes of Canaan

Or was the reference to midday blue apples the reflection of the stained glass windows in Renne Le Chateau

Has anyone been in Renne Le Chateau at noon and seen WHERE the blue apples are on the walls? Which stations? Maybe something is still hidden in the church during the renovations? I bet its long gone by now though.

"The name 'Blue Apples' or 'Pommes Bleues' in French, relates to an optical phenomenon that is said to occur at midday (12:00) on January 17 when the sun shines through a stained-glass window (Jesus Raising Lazarus from the Dead) in the church. On this day, orbs of bluish light appear on the church furnishings before stopping (then fading) on the altar with its bas-relief of Mary Magdalene kneeling in prayer with a skull at her knees. "

Maybe this stained glass window is the clue?

Hi, Lonecrowe,
No disrespect but I think it may benefit you to read the forum's past posts on subjects like this. The answers to a lot of your questions are in those posts. This subject has been covered many, many times over.

Hi Lonecrowe,
I woud echo what James says above, and regarding the stained glass window from Puicheric church IMO it is another standardised image of MM that Sauniere picked for the renovation of RLC.
This RLC Research article has some good info :-

Another possibility for you to consider, Lonecrowe, is that the A MIDI part of A MIDI POMMES BLEUS is merely a pun on the pseudonym of the person who most probably composed the hidden message.

Answer in here.

Nice film, btw.

Crows are very intelligend birds.

Your intention was right, but you haven't seen it. There are blue apples in the apple tree and also below it.

An amazing thing is, that if you take the linked high res pic on a good screen, these blue apples are changing from visible to invisible. Very strange.
I checked it with two different screens.

In the following screenshot you can see it not so good, because of the low res.
Use the origin with 100%. Anybody can see it?

Has anyone ever wondered why the "blue apples" are at the center of so much speculation but no one pays any mind to the oranges?

Just FYI - this link was posted on the Maranatha site:
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/notro ... ixellated/

Stunning eh? I didn't think nature did 'blue' - this doesn't in effect, as the 'blue' isn't a pigment.

'A midi oranges orange , citrons citron.....' would have sounded too much like a nursery rhyme about London churches..(excuse my schoolboy 'franglais').

Do the 'blue apples' alight upon A(s)modee at any point in their journey around the church.....Has A(s)modee been moved? Did one blue apple fill that circle made by his fingers?

Wow....isn't nature full of beautiful things.

That fruit is truly amazing.

Wish my car was painted that color.

but the blue apples association with the stained glass effect would suggest that the parchments were created after the church was renovated

I reckon Davinho is right if you believe the 'blue apples' have anything to do with the window ( which IMO they don't ). Regarding jlockest's post -
No, he is on the same side so it would have to be a reflection from the other wall.
If he has been moved then only by a small amount, although I don't know if the statue was taken out for its repairs ?
No, but a trident did ( although I've never seen evidence of it, a picture would be good if someone has one ? ).

I reckon if he did have a trident originally it was removed because parishoners would catch their clothes on it as they walked in. That's not a great deal of room at the entrance especially if it's a busy Sunday

Nic,
I wasn't being entirely serious about Asmodeus' hand - although the link between a midi and Asmodeus (as a pun) had been made before somewhere - maybe here - I can't recall.
I sould have put a ;-) smiley after my post.

I don't know about the RLC environs, but there is a story about the building of the Temple that includes Solomon, Asmodeus and wine. Is that any good? Refer: http://www.pantheon.org/areas/featured/ ... sqb-2.html . In another story Solomon had power over Asmodeus, as Solomon had been given a ring (in variants I've read, by Michael) that gave him control over all the demons. The Seal of Solomon apparantly takes its name from this ring.
We were talking here about a 'ring in a fish' story a short while back, that also had echoes in a 'Solomon's Temple' story including Asmodeus and the above mentioned ring.

In the above legends, Asmodeus appears to be a winged demon - although he is a shape shifter, as he is capable of appearing as 'Solomon' himself.

Not in the immediate vicinity of RLC, no, not today at any rate. There'd be the odd little plot here and there, I'm sure, but the closest place to see any significant area of land under vine would be ten or fifteen miles to the north, around Limoux, where they make the famous Blanquette. Might be a few fields around Serres or Arques, possibly, but I could be mis-remembering that. But no, essentially; the area falls outside the various appellations in that region.

But bear in mind that in Sauniere's time that would probably have been different, because the area would have been much more extensively farmed. It's one of the ironies of RLC that the stark wilderness we see from the village car park today would back then have been rather more populated, and with more of a human imprint on the landscape. It's really quite barren, today.

If looking for a wine god or demon, then Bacchus would be a better bet than Asmodeus, I would have thought. This fellow.

One of the pleasures of driving on the D623 and D309 south to Limoux is seeing miles and miles of vineyards
