And you didnt scream NEXT in big letters :D

Did Marie have a foster sister called Julie Maleville or Julie Fons….or was it Manville Fons combined? i have found both these names in my files so which is the correct one if any?
Julie Maleville was aparantly an orphan taken in by the Denarnauds who allegedly died in 1957, what became of her? did she marry etc?

Wet-nursed children may be known as "milk-siblings"

Julie was fostered and nursed by Marie's mother, and i always wondered if she was fostered into the family at the moment when Alexandrine on two occassions, lost infants who died a few days after birth.

so who is Julie Maleville?
according to Ben Jacobs and co, the Arles sur Tech thing was Julie Maleville

http://www.societe-perillos.com/rise_2.html

also according to PS…..
The Dénarnaud family move into the village Presbytery, including an orphan Julie Maleville (1879-1957) – the foster sister of Marie Dénarnaud
http://www.rennes-le-chateau-rhedae.com ... eline.html

its not as though the names are similar enough to mix up in error....hmmmm
who was the mother of Abdon (the child allegedly brought up by Sauniere and Marie)?
Is there any evidence for the existance of Abdon?
You might have better luck working that one out….its all foreign to me :D

If I recall correctly Tisseyre mentions coming upon the property of Auguste Fons, who had discovered an ossuary at the foot of the old castle. I asked questions about the child Abdon a while back, but got no replies. Perhaps you`ll have better luck Tingra.

Was it usual in those times for progeny to include their surname in the signature when writing to parents? No "your loving son" or "regards" or whatever either. Does anyone else think this curious?

Fons was Julie's married name i believe...
Abdon Fons: born under difficult circumstances on 2 December 1908...during the labour, Julie asked for some of the miraculous waters from the Sainte Tombe of Abdon & Sennen.

Bill,
Try adding .htm to the end of the link. (http://www.aparc-rennes-le-chateau.com/ ... arnaud.htm)

So Maleville could be her maiden name? what happened to little Abdon?
Is there any evidence in any French documents that state he was given to Marie and Saunier to bring up? Why would his parents give him away?

If Julie Malville married and became Julie Fons...and if she was adopted as a baby by the Dénarnaud family...then it would be quite correct for the child to be educated by Saunière the village priest and his "uncle" or whatever relative he was, go figure.......and the name Abdon was extremely common in the area of Arles-sur-Tech at that epoch, whence the healing water from La Sainte Tombe that helped with the difficult birth experienced by Julie originated. Because Julie had specifically asked for this water to ease the process of birth (aargh!)...basically as a last resort ?....and because it resulted in the birth of the child, he was named Abdon, in thanks to the relics of the two sainted martyrs who resided in the tomb..... there weren't actually many bits left of the martyrs, as the tomb had been renversed and the contents scattered hundreds of years before...but hey! it worked.

......however this is all conjecture, based on the say-so of some village woman who's name i've forgotten...and personally, i reckon it's far too personal to be digging over the ashes of other people's private lifes...it's got nothing to do with the enigma of what was going down in the diocese of Carcassonne....or the localisation of Rhédé.

...however, i'm very interested in the water that bathes the sainted remains in the tomb.

I am sorting the wheat from the chaff, its all relevant IMHO.
There are far to many examples reported as fact that don't add up when investigated, such as that letter mentioned earlier so if nothing else this thread is a good exercise in myth busting :D

The "tomb water" has a different composition from natural or mineral water, and it is said to have great curative properties. Berenger Sauniere himself used it to heal a small infant that Julie Fons, his mother, had entrusted to his care. The baby boy was baptized "Abdon" in memory of his miraculous recovery, which Sauniere attributed to St. Abdon. Sauniere raised Abdon Fons as if he were his own son. He even filed a formal request to the Vatican to have this "miracle" officially acknowledged by the Church, most probably in the hope of establishing a pilgrimage site to the Sacred Tomb at Arles-sur-Tech! (Had he succeeded in this attempt, such an attraction would have proved a very lucrative source of income for him.)

got the above from The Rise..... thank you IBJ.

http://www.world-mysteries.com/newgw/gw_therise_1.htm

This is a very interesting theory, as it follows the line of thought of starting up a pilgrimage site to La Sainte tombe, to partake of the waters...just like at Lourdes....was the diocese behind all this?

hmmm...and let's not forget Monseigneur Leuillieux.

Apart from Isaac Ben Jacobs book, is this relationship with
Abdon, the priest and the miracle recorded anywhere else independently?

...don't know, but i don't think the personnage of the child is important...it's a question of miraculous waters.

And don't forget to thank Andre Douzet and Filip Coppens while you're at it.

Which might be significant if Monseigneur Leuillieux had been Bishop of Tarbes...
