There are uranium deposits, but I don't think they're being exploited at all, just closely guarded.
There's a weather station along with a rather complex radar system up there, as Sheila pointed out, but that's a whole 'nother story.

They used these kinds of chairs for fertility rites, they are usually magnetic.

Preliminary research reports reductions of pain in women with chronic refractory pelvic pain using magnet therapy.

Hope the weather stays good for you.

I'll be staying in Rennes les Bains so i'll be going up there myself. When you say 'magnetic' do you mean taking a compass/magnet up there or complex technical wizardry?!

Chris

No just a compass will do.

Speaking of magnetic.

Did anyone here know that if you place a compass on the left of the Benitier in the RLC church the needle will point in the opposite direction than when you place it on the right hand side.

Either side of PAR CE SIGNE TU LE VAINCRAS

The same thing occurs when you do this on the calvaire in the garden.

I thought someone would come in and say this when I mentioned magnetic earlier, it surprises me that nobody here seems to know this. I knew this from a French film I saw several years ago.

Yes it seems that not only might the Fauteuil d'Diable be magnetic but the Devil in the church may be too.

hang on, have you actually done this yourself or are you going by what you saw in the film? It's obviously easily verifiable, Chris will be out there in the next week or so. I'm back in September

Didn't you say you'd be visiting from 9th to 19th June? I asked you on the 17th July.

From the film. What? Are you saying they must have faked it? How would they do that? Indeed why would they do that? Tell me what is to be gained by faking this?

I dunno, why does anyone fake anything? But they can and do sometimes. Like I said this will be easy to check, with something like this that is so easy to verify why take it for granted that what someone else says is correct?

Good one roscoe. :D :D :D

I love that sense of humour. You'd go well out here in the back blocks of Karijini

When I measured this:

in May 2010 (as you can see in the shot) I also took some bearings with this

Image

great little compass that has travelled the world and kept us well oriented!

It recorded no variations around the Calvaire.

But, as roscoe knows, when you walk around the Calvaire to change sides holding your compass you need to turn it 180 degrees. The same thing applies around any object.

You've gotta love him!

Regards to all

Wombat.

Aw Roscoe, I find your little link to an attempt to understand the Gold market to be quite endearing!

Of course, the US doesn't have ANY "revaluation tool" for Gold. It's a global market completely out of their hands! But you'd need some rudimentary grounding in economics to understand any of these things you opine about.

Yeh I wish I did know all about economics. I retired at 40 I wonder if I can get a course.

Long may I remain ignorant of economics. Got to go now it's the weekend and another holiday beckons. Flight to catch you know how it is.

yes I answered on the 19th of July. I presumed I wouldn't need to put July as I thought it would be fairly obvious what month it was seeing as you did ask on the 17th of July and we've had only one 19th since. Did you need to get your pencil sharpener out?

I took compass readings from there and didn't notice any fluctuations. Bugarach's meant to be magnetic (should confirm this in September) but I've not heard that about the armchair
